Questions people ask

Anything not here, email me and I will answer it.

Do my guests need an account or an app?

No. They scan the QR code on the big screen, then add songs and vote in their browser.

How many people can vote at one event?

Up to your plan's voter limit, on the cards above. It counts distinct people rather than votes, and the limit is only checked for somebody who has not voted yet, so a guest coming back to vote again is never turned away.

Who is Teams for?

People who co-host their own private events: a family planning a wedding together, friends who take turns hosting, a club that meets every month. One team holds up to 25 co-hosts who share the playlist, the guests and the big screen. It adds scheduling, repeat events, a custom big screen and a party recap.

Can I use CrowdTune at a party?

Yes, at a private one: a house party, a wedding, a birthday in a rented hall or a staff party. Private means the guests are invited, the event is not open to the public, and nobody pays to get in. A club night or a party that sells tickets to the public is not private. The Terms define it under Music licensing.

Can I use CrowdTune in a bar, club or shop?

No. CrowdTune is for private events such as parties, weddings, birthdays and team events. YouTube's terms allow personal, non-commercial use only and forbid publicly screening its videos, so playing music to customers is not allowed. A collecting-society licence does not change that, because it covers the music, not the use of YouTube.

I only need this for one party. Do I have to subscribe?

No. A pass is a single payment that lifts one event's limits for three days. You buy it from that event's host console rather than from this page, and it does not start a subscription.

Need a second team?

Each team has its own Teams plan. Create the team, then choose a Teams plan for it here. You can run up to five teams, your own workspace included.

What is play next?

It is free: every guest can pick one song per event to play next, ahead of the vote ranking. When several guests use theirs, those songs play in the order they were picked. Up to five picked songs can wait at once. The host can undo a pick, and that guest gets theirs back, or turn play next off for the whole event.

Can I cancel?

Any time, and you keep the plan until the end of the period you already paid for. Until that date you can keep it from your account instead. Moving from Pro to Teams applies at once, and you pay the difference for the rest of the period. Moving from Teams to Pro applies at the renewal date and can be undone until then. To switch between monthly and annual, cancel and subscribe again once the period ends.

What happens when an event reaches a limit?

It stops accepting more of whatever ran out and says which limit was reached. Nothing already in the queue is lost, and the host can either upgrade or buy a pass for that one event.

Where does the music come from?

YouTube. The big screen asks once before loading YouTube's player, because that contacts Google from the device showing it. Voting and the leaderboard work whether or not you say yes.

How long can an event run?

Up to the maximum shown on your plan card. Events are short-lived on purpose: an event and its songs are removed within roughly 30 days.
